Peer Tutoring

Mills is committed to meeting the needs of our students. Our mission with peer tutoring is to promote student success through active learning and motivation. Our style of tutoring focuses on the mastery of material while encouraging creativity and independent thinking.

Each student is eligible for up to 3 hours of free tutoring per subject offered per week. These appointments can be drop in, or a more formal scheduled period of time between the student and peer tutor. Appointments can be made for up to one hour and can be made up to three weeks in advance.

Students might wish to seek the advice of a peer tutor for a particular question they are struggling with, overall concepts, study habits or exam tips.

We are located in the Center for Academic Excellence in the Aurelia Reinhardt building, B wing. You can find us by walking up the hill to Founders, or by exiting Founders and walking into the building directly ahead.

Peer tutoring starts in the second or third week of the semester. Tutors offer open and appointment hours throughout the week. There are no open hours on public or college holidays. Open hours are also not held during reading or exam days. However, tutors may be available for appointment hours during these times. While we make every effort to hold open hours on a regular schedule, emergencies and other circumstances sometimes prevent this. Please check the calendar for current office hours.
