We have two types of tutoring available: open hours and appointments. Appointments can be made up to three weeks in advance but no less than 24 hours before the appointment.
Open Hours
Open hours for the various subjects are held throughout the week and no appointment is necessary. These hours are posted on the Peer Tutoring Calendar. The amount of time available will depend on student need. If there are other students waiting, the tutor will spend 15 minutes with students in the order that they arrive until their tutoring hours are completed. If there are no other students waiting, the tutor may meet with the student for a maximum of one hour or until another student arrives for services.
Appointments
Scheduled appointments are one-on-one activities available in 15 minute
segments to a maximum of one hour. Appointments are made by filling out an appointment request form.
You will receive an email regarding your appointment within two business days. If you do not receive a reply please contact the Center for Academic Excellence.
Each student is eligible for up to 3 hours of tutoring per subject per week. However, after each appointment the student will be asked to fill in an evaluation form before attending a second appointment.
It helps to be prepared for your appointment so you get the most help in the allotted time. Here are some hints.
New Appointments
When attending an appointment for the very first time, please fill out this New Appointment form in advance of that appointment with as much detail as possible. Please bring it with you to your appointment.
Continuing Appointments
If this is your second, or other appointment, with the same peer tutor for the same course, please fill out the Continuing Appointment form. Please bring it with you to your appointment.
