Counseling and Psychological Services

If you'd like to speak to someone regarding personal concerns, Counseling and Psychological Services offers confidential individual and group therapy, as well as crisis intervention. As a Mills student, you are eligible for up to ten counseling sessions each academic year free of charge. You can also find health and counseling workshops on topics such as stress management, body image, and healthy relationships, or get referrals to off-campus resources for ongoing psychological services.

Visit Wellness and Community Outreach (beginning in fall 2009) and Counseling and Psychological Services in the Cowell Building for more information.

Health Programs Seasonal Update: Summer 2009

Transition from UCB/ SHIP coverage to Kaiser Student Health Plan

Student health and wellness is a primary concern of the College, and Mills continually looks for ways to improve upon and provide convenient and comprehensive medical care, education, and medical services and resources to assure students' well being.

While Mills has enjoyed a long and productive working relationship with UC Berkeley's Tang Center, our students have expressed a desire for an on-site medical facility, as many students have experienced challenges accessing healthcare that is not conveniently located.

We are pleased to announce that, after extensive hard work and discussion, Mills College has signed a contract with Kaiser Permanente to provide health coverage and care for Mills students on our campus.  Students will have access to an excellent comprehensive benefit plan focused on preventive care and wellness, on-site access to a physician and a nurse five days a week in the Student Health Center (opening in August 2009), and the ability to access online health and wellness services along with pertinent resources, tools, and expertise to support getting and staying healthy. Additionally, students will be able to avail themselves of extensive medical care at the Oakland Kaiser facility, as well as at all other Kaiser facilities. This new healthcare plan will be available for students, as well as their dependents including: spouse, registered domestic partner, and children (additional fee required.) The Student Health Center will provide certain services covered in the new healthcare plan, with the full range of services available at a Kaiser Permanente facility. The Student Health Center will serve Mills College students only, and dependents of covered students will be served at a Kaiser Permanente facility.

Open enrollment for the Kaiser Student Health Plan will begin July 1, 2009, and information will be available to students as the deadline approaches. See the Kaiser Permanente Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for additional information.

New information: See Enrolling or waiving the Kaiser Student Health Plan.
