Oakland, CA–May 22, 2009. Mills College President Janet L. Holmgren will speak at the 22nd Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE), the leading national forum for diversity and access in higher education.
Holmgren is part of a session on May 27th in San Diego that will focus on the trustee's role in diversity. She is representing Princeton University where she serves as a Trustee but will also share her insights on the Mills College Board of Trustees. The purpose of this session is to bring together trustees from private and public colleges and universities who will explain how diversity relates to the oversight of their institutions.
Education access and diversity is one of the three goals of the Mills College Strategic Plan for 2008 through 2013. The goal calls for enhanced educational access and retention of an excellent and diverse student body and a diverse faculty and staff. The College's other strategic goals include academic excellence and education for leadership; and environmental and fiscal responsibility.
