Recreation Facilities Schedules & Fees


Please click on the links above to see more information for users of the Mills College recreation facilities. Mills students, faculty, staff, and alumnae are welcome to use the fitness center, gymnasium, tennis courts and pool. In addition, the tennis courts and pool are available for use by the public. When using Mills College recreational facilities, please remember to bring a Mills College photo ID or alumnae card with you. Note: if your proof of Mills affiliation (ie. alum card) does not contain a photo, you must also bring an additional form of photo identification. There is absolutely no food or drink (except water) allowed into any of these facilities. For information on athletic facility rentals, please contact Alic Shook at ashook@mills.edu.  Please indicate which facility you are interested in renting, what type of group and/or program you are, and potential dates and times for your rental.


Fitness Center

The fitness center is available for use by Mills College students, faculty, staff, alumni, and EF students. The fitness center is not open to EF students during peak hours, Monday–Friday, from 4–6 pm.

To access the facility, all users will be asked to present a Mills ID (i.e. current student or employee ID, alumna/ alumnus card, or EF ID). Recent graduates may use their previous year Mills ID cards to access the fitness center until alumni cards become available at the Alumnae House in October following graduation. If your Mills ID does not have your photo, you will be asked to present a photo ID as well. All users must be at least 18 years of age or a Mills College student.

Monday - Thursday

12 - 4 pm: Open to all with Mills ID

4 - 6 pm : Open to Mills Community ONLY-
No EF students

6 - 10 pm: Open to all

Friday

9 am - 4 pm: Open to all with Mills ID

4 - 6 pm : Open to Mills Community ONLY- No EF students

6 - 7 pm: Open to all

Saturday - Sunday

12 - 3 pm: Open to all with Mills ID


The Fitness Center will be on Interim Hours August 26 through September 8.  The Interim Schedule is below.

Monday - Thursday

4:00 - 8:00 pm - Open to all faculty, staff, students, and Mills alumnae with Mills ID

Friday 3:00 - 7:00 pm
Saturday - Sunday 12:00 - 3:00 pm

Haas Gymnasium

Haas gymnasium is available for general recreational use for Mills College students, faculty, staff, and alumnae during regularly schedule Rec Hours only (see Fitness Center Schedule). Current Mills faculty, staff and students may bring one accompanied guest. Sports equipment may be checked out from the fitness center.

Women's Community Basketball: The Women's Community Basketball group will be scheduled for use of the gym on Saturdays from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Any woman who wishes to join them for casual play may do so on a drop in basis at a cost of $3. A photo ID is required.

The following schedule is subject to change. Intercollegiate athletics, special college events, and rentals have priority. Please check the calendar posted on the gymnasium door or call (510) 430-3376 for more information.

Gymnasium Hours

The gymnasium will be open beginning August 26 for Fall 2008.

Locker Rooms

Locker rooms are located downstairs in Haas Pavilion. Lockers are provided for no fee to Mills College students and at an annual fee of $25 for Mills College faculty, staff and alumnae. For more information, please ask the Fitness Center Supervisor at the front desk of the Fitness Center during regularly schedule Fitness Center Hours.

Mills College is not responsible for any lost or damaged items that are left in the locker rooms or lockers.

Meyer Tennis Courts

The newly resurfaced Meyer Tennis Courts are available to key-holding members of the Mills College Community as well as to key-holding members of the public. The Meyer Tennis Courts are also available for long-term rentals by USTA and other similar groups. Please see below for key rental procedures and the fee schedule.

The Tennis Court facility features six courts, three of which have lights. All courts are open from dawn until dusk each day and three of the courts are lit until 10pm. Restrooms, drinking fountains, benches and tables are located at the facility.

Getting A Permit and Key

In order to get a permit and rent a key for the year, please contact Alic Shook at 510.430.2172 between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm. Please bring a small (1" x 1") photo of yourself and a check. The courts are re-keyed each Fall (generally on Labor Day weekend) and all keys must be returned at that time.

Permits must be posted on the board at the gate when the courts are in use.

Fee Schedule

Please note that fees are pro-rated each month. The listed price is representative of the annual fee from August - August.

Facility Rentals

The Soccer Field, Tennis Courts and Gymnasium are available for rent. Please contact Alic Shook,  ashook@mills.edu for rental policies and rates.  Please indicate which facility you are interested in renting, what type of group and/or program you are, and potential dates and times for your rental.  We now accept Visa and Mastercard for rentals and tennis key purchases.
