Athletics

The intercollegiate athletics program at Mills College has a tradition of excellence. Among our accomplishments are a 1996 national rowing championship and a cross country team that qualified for the 1999 NAIA national championships. crew teamAt Mills, the women's athletics program does not compete with men's athletics, so our female athletes have top priority accessing our first-rate facilities and incredible travel opportunities. We have a state-of-the-art aquatic center, newly expanded fitness center, running trails winding through redwood forests five minutes from campus, recently renovated soccer field and tennis courts, and a beautiful year-round outdoor training site for rowing. Our teams travel across the United States and to Hawaii.

soccerOur intercollegiate athletic teams include volleyball, soccer, cross country, swimming, tennis, track and field, and rowing. Mills is a member of the California Pacific Conference, National Collegiate Athletic Association (Division III), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Our mission is to help student-athletes achieve excellence in their academic, athletic, and personal pursuits. We teach life skills that transcend athletics. Each year our teams raise thousands of dollars to combat breast cancer. Our student-athletes use their talents to reach out into the community and teach others their sport. Exceptional women role models come to speak to our student-athletes, such as Olympic soccer gold medallist Tiffany Milbert and national champion middle-distance runner Regina Jacobs. Students who have never competed on a team before can transform into athletes at Mills. Mothers, women over traditional college age, and working women have found ways in this supportive environment to balance their academics, personal obligations, and Mills athletics.
