True Grit: Seven Female Visionaries Before Feminism

Lee Bontecou, Louise Bourgeois, Jay DeFeo, Claire Falkenstein, Nancy Grossman, Louise Nevelson, Nancy Spero
All of the artists in this exhibition began making art before the word "feminism" entered the cultural mainstream and their work shares a strong angst-filled sensibility that is undeniably shaped by the experience of being a woman artist in a time of siege and rebellion.
