Reunion 2009
Rediscovering Mills

October 1-4, 2009
Convocation on October 2 featuring Stephanie Mills '69

Mills College wants you back for a weekend of rediscovery: of reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, revisiting historic spaces and exploring innovative architecture, rejoicing in our environment and learning about efforts to preserve it, reviving traditions and celebrating creativity. This Reunion honors, in particular, the Golden Girls of 1959 and alumnae from class years ending in 4 and 9.

The College's Alumnae Relations Program and the Alumnae Association of Mills College (AAMC) are planning four days of activities that will allow you to relive old memories and experience the thriving campus community. Highlights of this year's Reunion include:

Thursday, October 1

  • Class of 1949 visit to the California Academy of Sciences
  • Cocktail reception and dinner for all Golden Girls

Friday, October 2

  • Faculty and student panels
  • Convocation for the 2009-10 academic year with speaker Stephanie Mills '69, whose leadership as an ecological activist and author began with her nationally acclaimed 1969 commencement address at Mills
  • Garden reception hosted by Mills College President Janet L. Holmgren
  • Special dinner at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco for the Class of 1959
  • Darius Milhaud Concert

Saturday, October 3

We were delighted to welcome 250 alumnae and around 70 of their spouses, partners, and guests to celebrate their ongoing connection to the College. The number of alumnae registered for Reunion represented a 55 percent increase over figures for Reunion 2007.
