Visiting the Mills Campus

During the academic year, the Office of Undergraduate Admission hosts several campus visit programs for students and their parents. You can also visit the campus in a variety of other convenient ways:

Prospective students who are unable to attend one of our special campus visit programs may wish to schedule an individual day or overnight visit to campus. Spend the night on campus with a current Mills student (bring a sleeping bag!), dine in the residence halls, and attend classes. Overnight visits may be scheduled Monday through Thursday, early September through April, when classes are in session. High school students are welcome for an overnight visit beginning in January of their junior year.

Individual Visits to Mills

Day visits may be arranged Monday through Friday. During a day visit you will tour the campus, have your questions answered by an admission counselor, have lunch with a student, and attend classes. To schedule a day or overnight visit, call us at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 (for international students), or fill out our online form.

Information Sessions

During the summer, we recommend starting your campus visit off with one of our daily half-hour Information Sessions in order to become acquainted with Mills. A knowledgeable admission counselor will present information about Mills and ways you can make your visit to campus worthwhile. From June 1–August 27, Information Sessions will be held Monday through Friday at 11:00 am. To sign up for an Information Session, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 (for international students) or fill out our online form.

For students interested in a nursing degree, summer is also a great time to attend a Nursing Information Session. In partnership with Samuel Merritt University, you may complete your BS in nursing sooner than you think! An introduction to the nursing partnership program is provided, as well as guidelines for students who wish to transfer into this program. Students who have some college credit and wish to transfer to the Nursing Program are encouraged to attend and to bring unofficial copies of all college transcripts. From June 1–August 27, Nursing Information Sessions will be held on Thursdays at 11:00 am. To sign up for a Nursing Information Session, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 (for international students) or fill out our online form.

Interviews

An on-campus interview with an admission counselor is strongly recommended as an opportunity for the College to become acquainted with you and to acquaint you as thoroughly as possible with Mills. The interview is expected of any candidate whose credentials differ substantially from the majority of successful applicants.

A student living farther away is strongly encouraged to arrange for an interview with the Alumna Admission Representative (AAR) in her area; a list is available from the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

Interviews are offered between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday–Friday. To schedule an interview, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 (for international students) or fill out our online form.

Campus Tours

Tours of the campus are offered Monday through Friday at 10:00 am and 2:30 pm when classes are in session; at other times of the year, one daily tour is offered at 2:30 pm. The one-hour tour is usually conducted by a current student. Please telephone the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800.87.MILLS or 510.430.2135 (for international students) to sign up for a tour, or fill out our online form.

Campus Lodging

Reservations for guest rooms in the Mills residence halls can be made through the Housing Management and Dining Services (HMDS) Office. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. A few guest rooms in the residence halls have private baths; most are dormitory style, with twin beds and a shared bath. The residence hall guest rooms are reserved for members of the Mills community only. All rooms include bed linens and towels. Maximum stay is one week. Unfortunately, pets are not welcome in buildings for health reasons. The HMDS Office may be contacted by calling 510.430.2127.
