Core requirements:

Select a concentration in one of three areas listed below and take its two-semester introductory sequence:

European

HIST 011 The West and Its Cultural Traditions I (1)

HIST 012 The West and Its Cultural Traditions II (1)

United States

HIST 031 American History I (1)

HIST 032 American History II (1)

Asian

HIST 061 China and Japan to 1800 (1)

HIST 062 China and Japan Since 1800 (1)

Other Requirements:

All must take HIST 189 and 190 and should do so in sequence in the spring of the junior and fall of the senior year, respectively.

HIST 189 History and Its Methods (1)

HIST 190 Senior Thesis Seminar (1)

And select 8 additional semester course credits in history. Four of these credits should be inside your area of concentration and 4 outside your area of concentration. Upon approval from a history advisor, one of these elective courses may be taken outside the department.
